Jonas Fitting (*1996) grew up near Stuttgart, Germany. He studied music education for secondary schools at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, focusing on piano as well as choral and orchestral conducting with Prof. Richard Wien. He graduated with a Master of Education with distinction. Alongside his studies, he received training in music theory and composition, with Prof. Matthias Hermann supervising his bachelor’s and master’s compositional projects, including a large-scale orchestral work for his master’s thesis. His recent commission is a work for the chamber ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in film scoring at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

His compositional work is strongly influenced by a fascination with the (late) Romantic tradition. He has already written orchestral works for large ensembles and choir, placing particular emphasis on fluid harmonic movement and expressive emotional depth. This approach now extends into his work for film and visual media – ranging from classical orchestral scoring and chamber settings to electronic sound compositions.
